What is modelled reality?
Modelled reality means bounded systems encounter the world through models that must remain answerable to constraint.
Modelled reality does not mean that reality is merely invented, fictional or a simulation. It means that bounded systems encounter and act within reality through models.
Model and constraint
The model is not the world. The model is the system’s organised way of meeting the world. Constraint is what pushes back, corrects, limits and tests the model.
Why it matters
A system survives by maintaining models good enough to guide action. When the model fails, the system must repair, revise or abandon it. Reality is therefore not only what is represented, but what forces representation to change.
